Get Real was my first official release... I recorded a number of experimental projects
in the initial days of acquainting myself with the art of computer recording--But
Get Real was the first project I deemed "releasable" -- And so in April
of 2004 in conjunction with the launching of Guitar Jams, I made my debute with
this collection of Christian metal tunes--some of which are among my all-time
favorites! |

I need to voice a BIG "Thank You" to Matt Wooley here. He was my official Technical
Adisor on both "Get Real" and "Rock You Up." He also mastered both
of those projects for me. Get Real, in many ways, is the most raw and organic project I've ever put out. The production is minimal -- simply because I didn't know much about production! :-) All of the songs on G.R. came from a very deep place in my heart and that is evident in the passion and feel of the music. |
Out of the Hellhole was a milestone release for me. It was the very first project
that I produced from start to finish--and it's been held up by many as the
best of my vocal projects. Craig Eichelbergert, of Austin TX shared this comment--"A metal feast at its finest,The most beautiful music in the world. The best part is its praising the LORD. I love the song 'Well Done', a master piece." |
I love this disc. There are a lot of experimental elements on this one--primarily
in the Percussion Dept. I used Cakewalk's KENETIC to program some
serious percussive grooves-- over which I layed some classic metal tunes.
The end result was a really cool, groovin, 80s metal sound! Here's a good
way to describe it-- just imagine Angus Young and Eddie Van Halen playing guitar
in a band with Sheila E! Okay... so it's a little bit outside my "norm"... |
RESHREDDED was a very exciting project for me. It was the first time I ever
go to record with Richard Lynch and Dee Harrington of Saint--two of my metal heros--So
that was very cool. The project took me nearly a year to finish--simply
becasue of all the people who were part of it--by the way--this disc, easily
contains the most talented group of players I've ever hat the honor of working
with--to date--and it opened the door for more awesome players who will appear
on forthcoming discs. |
Ah, Rock You Up! What a blast I had cranking this one out! RYU came out
really soon after Get Real... I was sort of on a roll and the tunes were coming
fast and furiously! Matt Wooley had introduced me to the wonders of "com-
pression" and I was anxious to experiment with that--so you hear a good bit
of compression on this one! Much like Get Real the tunes on RYU are heart- |
Telecaster was a very unique project for three reasons: 1) I wrote 90% of it in one
week--while I was on vaction at my inlaws in Carlisle, PA., 2) Its title track
"TELECASTER" tells a story that's pretty special to me--about the purchase
of my beloved 1973 Fender Telecaster Super Deluxe! And 3) Because it
was the first CD that I took the issue of "warmth" seriously in my mastering.
Digital recordings can come off sounding a bit "thin" and brittle...
especially |
SHRED is my debut instrumental metal release. When it was complete--I mailed
one off to Richard Lynch of SAINT--Here's what he had to say--"This CD "Shred"
SHREDS!!!!! This is must have metal at it's finest. Pastor Brad is blessed with
the AWESOME ability to play like the big boys and even better. It's also must
play material at grandma's house during Christmas present opening time, it will
be a tradition through out the years and Grandma will love it, |
felt and full of fire and passion... biblical themes and imagery are plentiful!
I contacted Richard Lynch of SAINT and asked him to take a listen--here's a quote from Rich, "Hi Pastor Brad, I'm listening to Rock You Up and I gotta tell you, I'm getting Rocked Up. I hear hints of many metal greats ie: Van Halen, Kiss, ect.. I am very impressed with the production." I must admit--hearing one of my metal heros comment on my music like that was quite shot in the 'ol metal ego! :-) Thanks Rich! RYU is a heavy, rocking disc--packed with ripping guitar solos, BIG sing along choruses, and a nice balance of fast and slow tunes. I'm proud of it. |
Another really special thing about this CD is the fact that it contains several songe
that I originally wrote and performed with a garage band I was in in the 1980s!
The music to: Frodo and Sam, I will follow, Faithfulness, Saga, No
Turning Back, Sound the alarm, City Streets and Crazy was all written "back in
the day" when "Black Rose" and "Blue Print" (the two bands I was part of in High
School) were rockin the neighberhood in garages all over Anderson, IN! Of the five vocal projects I've released, OOTH is definitely the most "personal" My testimony is all over this one. I know it rocks, but I'm also very proud of the fact that it clearly exalts Jesus and expresses my love for Him as well! REMASTERED by Richard Lynch of SAINT, 2007 |
so get one for her too!" When I did SHRED--It was the beginning of a brand new chapter for Guitar Jams and me, a S-H-R-E-D chapter. I absolutely love composing, arranging and recording instrumental metal! This project contains the contributions of three very accomplished guest musicians: Jon Hooper, Andy England and David Jacob. I'm honored to have them on this disc--they are stellar players and brothers in Christ! |

Shredded Sweet, when released, hopefully by Spring of 07, will be my third instrumental
metal release. You will, without question, notice that I hit the wood
shed and cranked the shred dial up several notches on this one! But,
of course, you also know I'm not about just playing a million mindless notes as
fast as I can. There'll be tons of distinct melodies and harmonies all over
this thing! |
And the guest players on here are flat brilliant! Take a moment and click over
the the S.S. page and get to know them... read the interviews and check out
their sites. CHECK IT OUT HERE |
Another anthem, riff, lick, trick, trill, shred-fest of a project--plus several vocal
tunes to boot! This one also introduces a new friend--Earl Coy--With
quite possibly the best production job I've ever managed--this one is among my
very best efforts!! This thing's gonna S--H--R--E--D! |
More personal reflections will come after we release this puppy! |

Hopeful Release Date: Spring 2008 |
When the guitar amp you're using is SOLID STATE! So, anyway--I picked up a
cool little plug-in from Antares, called "TUBE" that added a nice tube warmth simulation
to the final mixes. I really like this disc... especially the "middle
cuts", bumbers 2-9 just crank! Heaven is a really heavy tune that
was actually inspirted by the music of a KISS tune--"Creatures of the night"--and
Tender Moments is a love song of sorts about two of the greatest ladies in my
life--My Grnadma, Rachel Howard and my wife, Kelly! Remastered by Richard Lynch of SAINT, 2007 |
But I had a blast making it, and, sincerely... some of the tunes on this project
would fall in my "very best" category! Remastered by Richard Lynch of SAINT, 2007 |

RESHREDDED was the first project I produced using my Behringer TRUTH monitors (instead
of headphones) WHAT A WORLD OF DIFFERENCE THIS MADE! Just phenominal!
Oh yeah--this disc also made it into the hands of Oz Fox from STRYPER--I
have a fiiend--who is a friend of Oz's and he give him one--Oz loved the
disc and reportedly said, "Finally a disc I can pop in my CD player and really
enjoy!" Perty cool eh?!!!. |

Hopeful Release Date: Summer/Fall 2008 |
When completed, this project will be a Holy Shred-Fest of a extreme proportions!
HEAVENLY SHRED will feature several timeless hyms of the church, plus a number
of praise songs I've written -- all done PB metal style. It will
be about 50/50 vocal/instruMETAL tunes. And it will feature some KILLER
guest players--like John Johnson (Sacred Warrior/Zeal), Richard Lynch
(SAINT), Matt Wallimann, Jim Griffin, Joey Dahlia, and Jeff Garner--scary talented
players !! |
